Cock a doodle doooooooooo

I love this Chicken strummin' his guitar. Leave it to Anna Wight to come up with such a fantastic image. Who wouldn't swoon over this guy serenading them? I mean, seriously!

I am working feverishly trying to get some birthday cards made. I need to stock up. Birthdays are coming & going way too fast for me. LOL 

I am also doing the big "purge." That's right, cleaning out the ole stamp room & getting rid of "stuff." Stamps, paper, punches, you name it. It's all going on Craigslist this weekend. Will provide a link to my listing if anyone is interested. 

Question for you all...I primarily use my Copics for coloring. I am thinking of getting rid of my regular markers & pigment pads with the exception of a few colors. What do you think? Think I will regret getting rid of them? I never use them anymore. I would rather invest in the Copic refills than replacing my old markers. Decisions, decisions. I am going to sleep on it tonight. Let me know what you think though.

she went on her first walk today and was absolutely AMAZING!! She didn't pull on the leash & she kept up with me. That says a lot considering how fast I walk! Poor little thing is plum tuckered right now. LOL 

I... am... so...proud of her...sniff, sniff... LOL

And that is where I get off. Time to hit the sack. I have to do a little bed time reading on "how to get your dog to stop barking." Yes, that sweet little Gracie is a barker & a loud one at that!!! But...I love her anyway!

Sunny Wishes!

I am finally getting a chance to post my card for this months Challenge Chicks challenge. WHEW! 

This months challenge is "Here Comes the Sun." Hopefully I did it justice with this card. I used one of my favorite Whipper Snapper Design stamps (an Anna Wight design) and threw some fun, sunny colors together. It's a simple card but hey, what's wrong with simple, right???

I know it's past Easter but I wanted to take a minute & share the card I made...

I am slowly working on getting back into stamping. It is a slow process for me only becuase I have had so much going over the last 6 months. I am definitely feeling the need to be more creative though. 

So what have I been up to? Well...

I started a new position with my current employer. I don't want to go into too much detail but I will tell you this...it was a PROMOTION (yeah!) and I am working less OT with a LOT less stress! (Double YEAH!!)

With my new position came a new manager, one that I have previously worked with and absolutely adore! She is determined that not only will our dept be FUN but that we will give back to the community (I love this!). That being said, my entire team went out & participated in "Rebuilding Together." Our mission? To revamp a community garden & chicken coop near a Senior Housing project. My team was in charge of tearing down the old chicken coop, moving in the new one & then painting it red with white trim.

Now, please keep in mind, we were not the only people working on the chicken coop. It was very difficult for me/us to just "let things happen" & not instruct others on what to do, tell them where to move this or that or how to paint. Or say " Hey lazy, you feel like participating or do you want to just continue to sit there looking pretty?" LOL

Enough with the small talk, here are some photos of my/our day...

This is the new Chicken Coop (I wish I would have taken a pic of the run down shack/ghetto dive the two birds were living in prior to their pretty new home...

I was amazed at the detail the contractor put into building this coop. I had to take plenty of pics so that my Sis could see every angle. What do you think Pancho? Pretty cool, huh?? :) 

Cluck, cluck... I love my new home!! :) 

When we started there were only two chickens. By the time we left, they had added 10 more chickens to the coop. The Seniors were THRILLED and couldn't stop saying how excited they were. FRESH EGGS!!

I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed my day. The fact that we were giving back to the community & doing it together, as a team, really touched me. I can't wait for our next project/community service. Had I known what a high it was to do something like this, I would have started doing this a LONG time ago!! If you are on the fence about community service, jump off & get busy. It truly is a WONDERFUL feeling!!

Wish you were here

In more ways than one. Don't get me wrong, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with my hubby this past week during our stay-cation but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't have loved to visit with family & friends.

In fact, my brother turned 37 this past week. What the heck? Isn't he supposed to be my "baby" brother? Geez. I feel so old. LOL Anywho, I wish I would have been with him to celebrate. It would have been a good time. Who knows, maybe next year.

It's Sunday evening already...can you believe it?

My weekend flew by this weekend. I didn't even get a chance to stamp. What a complete bummer! I am hoping to finish up a card from last weekend tonight and then I have a couple of ideas for a St. Patrick's Day card. Keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to get that done before I hit the sack.

Happy Bird-day!

I have been having so much fun stamping this past week. It is so refreshing to create something rather than just sit at my desk and make NOTHING.

Yesterday I pulled out one of my FAVORITE Whipper Snapper Designs stamps. I absolutely adore Anna's illustrations & stamps, don't you?

I have always loved this paper from Basic Grey. It is so bright & cheery. It makes every card smile.

So yesterday, I went to see Avatar with my honey. Goodness, that was a LOOOOOOOOONG movie. I have to tell you though, I enjoyed it. Do I think it deserves an Oscar? Ummmm...no. Don't get me wrong, it was a fantastic movie but there were so many other movies that really "moved" me this year. Just sayin... 

Anywho, I am off to get some more stamping in...I have one day left of vacation and I am going to enjoy it!
